CSS blend modes and filters allow for effects that were not possible before. When applying these new options to images, you can create even more impressive effects by stacking or repeating multiple attributes in clever ways. And all of this is done in a nondestructive way. Bennett Feely and his Code Snippets Bennett Feely from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and his project Image-Effects on Github provide a great example for effects that can be achieved with an intelligent use of combinations or repetitions of different modern CSS attributes, for which you would not have used pure CSS until now. What Is Single Sign-On (SSO)? Single sign-on (SSO) is a method of authentication enabling users to access different applications with one set of credentials, such as a login and a password. Sharing the things we have learned is at the heart of everything we do at Smashing. That goes for the team as well as our authors, and Vitaly has been working on a set of checklists to accompany his workshop, [Smart Interface Design Patterns](https://smashingconf.com/online-workshops/workshops/vitaly-friedman-ux). The resulting PDF is 152 pages packed with useful information to help you create better interfaces. And, we're offering it to you free of charge. These checklists are based on the work Vitaly has been doing for many years, exploring and examining examples of desktop and mobile interfaces.
