When Apple announced in mid-2020 that it would acquire the popular weather app Dark Sky, developers knew that it was only a matter of time before they would need to find a new source for weather data. Soon after, Apple announced that the API would be taken down at the end of 2021. That deprecation date is now being pushed back until the end of 2022.
Whether you're working on a sign design for a coffee shop or a luxury boutique, choosing the right font for your sign will go a long way to make your signage look more professional and unique. When designing different types of signs, you are often forced to work with specific standards and font layouts. But, […]
If you're anything like me, you've forgotten your password more than once, especially on sites you haven't visited in a while. You've probably also seen, and/or been mortified by, reset password emails that contain your password in plain text. Unfortunately, the reset password workflow gets short shrift and limited attention during application development. This not only can lead to a frustrating user experience, but can also leave your application with gaping security holes.
Let's face it-design is the first thing users notice when they open a website. All of the following interaction will depend on that first impression. This is exactly why designers try so hard to make outstanding designs that can get to their users' hearts. Every website/logo design both printed and digital aims to touch a...

The past year has seen quite a rise in UI design tools. While existing applications, such as Affinity Designer, Gravit and Sketch, have improved drastically, some new players have entered the field, such as Adobe XD (short for Adobe Experience Design) and Figma. For me, the latter is the most remarkable. Due to its similarity to Sketch, Figma was easy for me to grasp right from the start, but it also has some unique features to differentiate it from its competitor, such as easy file-sharing, vector networks, "constraints" (for responsive design) and real-time collaboration. The post Sketch Vs. Figma: The Showdown appeared first on Smashing Magazine.
