In this tutorial, you'll create a single-page application (SPA) with a Spring Boot resource server and a Vue front-end client. You'll learn how to utilize JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) for authentication and authorization, using Spring Boot to configure the JWTs, with Okta as your OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC) provider. You'll also learn how to use the Vue CLI to bootstrap a Vue client app and how to secure it using the Okta Sign-In Widget. Okta is a computer security service provider with helpful information for safeguarding online applications. The Okta Sign-In Widget provides protection for front-end apps by letting you quickly add a secure login form that can be configured for single sign-on and social sign-on with external providers like Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn. It includes a PKCE implementation of the OAuth 2.0 authorization code flow (Proof Key for Code Exchange).

Augmented reality is generally considered to be very hard to create. However, it's possible to make visually impressive projects using just open source libraries. In this tutorial we'll make use of OpenCV in Python to detect circle-shaped objects in a webcam stream and replace them with 3D Earth in Three.js in a browser window while using WebSockets to join this all together. We want to strictly separate front-end and back-end in order to make it reusable. In a real-world application we could write the front-end in Unity, Unreal Engine or Blender, for example, to make it look really nice. The browser front-end is the easiest to implement and should work on nearly every possible configuration. The post Simple Augmented Reality With OpenCV, Three.js and WebSockets appeared first on Smashing Magazine.
Creating good websites starts with a certain consistency. This consistency is essential for the cognitive burden of a website’s visitor. When your design is consistent, using the website feels smooth and logic. However, when it is inconsistent, the user needs to put in unnecessary effort. This is what you need to avoid when you want to create websites that meet the expectations of your visitors. Consequence, in the sense of consistency, doesn’t mean to do the same thing over and over. In some areas, more needs to be invested into building consistency while other areas are easier to create. It’s also really boring to always do the same thing and to deliver boring, uniform designs. The key to success is the equilibrium between consistency and chaos. In this article, we will explain in detail, what consistency in web design means, why it is important to achieve, and what it means to bring it in line with user expectations. Why Consistency in Web Design is Important Good design for interactions is based on the system’s learnability. Put simple: When a user interface works well, it becomes predictable. This means that the user understands how to use certain features intuitively, without any […]* You might also be interested in the following articlesUser Experience Design: How to Do it RightCommon UX Mistakes That Are Killing Your DesignHow to Design Forms That Increase Your Conversion RateTen Golden Rules for Choosing the Right Website ImagesIs your Responsive Design Mobile Website Delivering Acceptable Load…How to Optimise PDF Files for Search Engines – and Visitors…
