At an high level here are the breaking changes we introduced: We removed OpenTracing as a required dependency. We still support OpenTracing, so you can do OpenTracingGlobalTracer::get() in your code and still retrieve a OpenTracing compliant tracer, but OpenTracing dependency is now optional. We introduced auto-instrumentation and 1-step installation in place of manual registration of providers/bundles. Before, in order to see traces, you had to install our extension, add two dependencies to the composer file and add a provider (Laravel) or a bundle (Symfony). Starting from now you will only have to install the extension. You still have freedom to manually instrument the code, but only for advanced usage. Added Request init hook configuration allowing running arbitrary code before actual request execution #175 Support OpenTracing without depending on it #193 Initial C extension PHP 5.4 support #205 Removal of external dependencies to support auto-instrumentation #206 Migration from namespace based constants to class based constants for tags, formats and types #207 Track integration loading to avoid re-loading unnecessary ones #211 Documenting release steps #223 Ability to run web framework tests in external web server #232 Support for auto-instrumentation #237 Support for Zend Framework 1 #238 Tracer::startRootSpan() to track the root Scope instance which can be accessed with Tracer::getRootScope() #241 Fixed The INI settings now appear in phpinfo() and when running $ php -i #242

Although it's April 1st, and people go all crazy making up jokes and spreading hoaxes, I'm sending out this edition to you without any April fools. Instead, I want to challenge you to put more effort, more thoughts into your code. Instead of blindly following a given path to build the solution with the least effort, what about thinking more about your users? Wouldn't a lot more users benefit from you spending an additional hour on building a form on your own instead of relying on a third party that involves tracking? Wouldn't they benefit from a smaller website that doesn't contain big libraries? Many people and crawling extensions could also benefit from a better document outline. In the end, it's your product and your work that users see — and I bet you want to be proud of what you've just built. The post Web Development Reading List #131: Git 2.8, CSS Grids And The Key To Good Code appeared first on Smashing Magazine.
Form Maker is the simple name of a not so simple plugin from the WordPress forge WebDorado. Form Maker lets you build flexible forms that also work on mobile devices via drag and drop. Form [...]
We live in an era where most companies have an app or a website representing themselves in the online sphere. It's a wonderful opportunity for the bulk of companies to really find a way to show off their company and express their identity. However, the flip side of this is that there is a lot of competition and with people becoming more and more familiar with good design and slick interface, there's a lot of pressure on you to work extra hard to get your website or app noticed. It's not as simple as doing a reasonable job. You have … Continue reading →Visit us at InstantShift.com
When you stay in your own lane, there is no traffic. In other words, mind your own business. Road Blocks & Wrong Turns People lose themselves by comparing themselves to others or trying to emulate (or worse, copy) their style or approach whether it be in design, marketing or business. This is a follower's game and you will always be trying to keep up. And by trying to keep up you will often take a wrong turn or hit a road block in the process. Focus on Your Road Instead, focus on your road. Stay in your lane and when you're good enough, people will come to you. To put this in perspective, my lane or strategy here on Instagram is to provide value to others, through education, inspiration & positive affirmation, with the underlying focus of mindset, business, branding, marketing and logo design. In my business, "my lane" is to help small to mid-sized businesses (and agency clients) grow and thrive through creating distinctive logos and brand identities, backed by strategy. My marketing strategy is inbound focused (SEO, social & word of mouth). This particular combo is not going to work for everyone so why chase it? Know Your Destination […]
