If you've ever worked in an agile environment, chances are you've had your share of "retrospectives" — meetings where people write what made them "glad," "mad" or "sad" onto different-colored notes, post them onto a board, arrange them in groups and — most importantly — talk about them. These meetings are straightforward, as long as everyone is in the same room. But if you're working with a locally distributed team, things can get a bit tricky. Let's address this by creating a virtual version of our board to allow team members in different locations to hold their retrospective just as if they were in the same room. You possibly cannot imagine what designers can do with their creative mind as modern age designers love to experiment with things and observe how people interact with their work. Unusual Navigation is a complex trend that refuses to go away. Even though this is not a common trend to follow but still as the new design styles come up, and as more and more designers notice them and make use of them in their work, this kind of trends emerge. I'm a huge fan of open-source! One of the little ways I've supported the cause is by keeping this blog open since the very beginning. You can always browse the full source code here. The reason is partly to let people see the history of changes behind each page. But also because I didn't find many open-source Jekyll blogs to learn from when I started down this road. So I keep this website open in the hopes that my trials and errors will save someone else a lot of time. I was recently asked by someone (shout-out to Seth!) to send them the Markdown source of one of my articles. This gave me the idea to add a permanent "View source" button to the footer of every article page. I'll walk you through the process of adding this to your own Jekyll website.
On the Exakat blog they have a new post with the results from their evaluation of a wide range of PHP applications showing the Top 100 PHP functions in use. Here is the top 100 PHP functions : it is the list of the most often used PHP native functions. The functions are named, and ranked from 1 to 100. The other 4500 functions are not ranked now. The frequency column represents how often this function is used across PHP code : the reference corpus is a list of 1900 PHP open source projects. They were audited with Exakat static analysis engine, version 1.2.5. The average is the number of time a function is called within one project. Some function are used in isolation, and others are a staple. The top 5 on the list are: count is_array substr in_array explode Each item on the list comes with "frequency" and "average" scores (that mostly relate directly). Check out the post for the full list and a list of some insights they worked up as they generated the listing.
