Auto-Scaling DynamoDB Streams Applications on Kubernetes
Published: 2023-09-26
This blog post demonstrates how to auto-scale your DynamoDB Streams consumer applications on Kubernetes. You will work with a Java application that uses the DynamoDB Streams Kinesis adapter library to consume change data events from a DynamoDB table. It will be deployed to an Amazon EKS cluster and will be scaled automatically using KEDA. The application includes an implementation of the com.amazonaws.services.kinesis.clientlibrary.interfaces.v2.IRecordProcessor that processes data from the DynamoDB stream and replicates it to another (target) DynamoDB table - this is just used as an example. We will use the AWS CLI to produce data to the DynamoDB stream and observe the scaling of the application.
